Some Random Thoughts and Notes

I found out I didn't make the Moot Court Board this time around... There's another application period in the spring. In response to a reader comment, our MCB is responsible for running all of our MCB events. It is difficult to get on to but not quite as prestigious as Law Review.

A funny quote from a contracts case: An expert witness testifying as to the definition of a chicken, "Chicken is everything except a goose, a duck, and a turkey." Hmmm. I guess that makes me a chicken. The dispute in question was over the quality of chicken bargained for in the contract.

A funny Chuck Norris joke: Chuck Norris played Russian Roulette with a loaded gun... and won.

Yesterday my contracts professor informed us that we're nine weeks done with the semester and we have six weeks left. WOW. It seems like I just started.

I've been told and am starting to learn that its best not to rehash tests and discuss results with students. Nothing productive results. With that said, nobody seems to know what's going on with my Civ Pro midterm. Our prof said she still doesn't know how she's going to weight the midterm in relation to our overall grade for the semester. But, she did seem to indicate that the multiple choice part of the exam will be more heavily weighted than the Rules part... which is good for me. She also said that if a student vastly improves on the final she might not count the midterm at all. Bottom line, I'm not worried about the result and I'm glad that we took the midterm.

One last thought. Why do Republicans hate big cities. Don't they count as America? Or do they only count when they're attacked by terrorists? I'm referring to the constant McCain/Palin comments that there are pro American parts of the country. When they say that, I think they more or less mean that the pro American parts of the country are the parts with the least diversity and the least acceptance of the views of others. My main point here though is that the great thing about America is that we can all live together. Our country respects the rights of the gun toters and the Pacifists; the atheists, the Catholics, and the Muslims; Republicans, Independants and Democrats. That's why our country is the best country in the world. It's not just the small towns that make us great. It's about time those that claim to be more patriotic remember what makes our country so great.
