Finals Approaching

It sounds ominous... but I don't feel too nervous. I still have a lot of work to do to get prepared but I'm almost kind of enjoying this challenge. All of our profs have done a nice job reminding us that while finals are important, they aren't as important as most make them out to be. They don't measure our value as human beings (yes this is a valuable reminder for some of my classmates that seem overly stressed) and they're not a good predictor of the quality of lawyer we will be. Also, they don't count for much of anything after you get your first job.

My Crim Law prof told us that the only reliable predictor of how students perform is how confident they are going in to the exam. Even students that were less prepared performed better, according to some academic studies, if they felt confident in themselves.

I had a little conference with my Legal Writing prof yesterday and I think my Memo 2 is coming along well. That's due Friday. My finals schedule is as follows Tuesday: Torts, Thursday: Property, Monday: Civ Pro, Wednesday: Contracts, Friday: Crim Law.

On a side note, all my peers are clapping at the end of our final class for each course. It's a little weird. Not that our prof's don't deserve it but it reminds me of when people clap at the end of a movie. Except that's much worse because the actors can't hear the applause. Do students at other schools applaud their profs too?

Oh yea, this is a big weekend for another reason too. It's the first round of fantasy football playoffs. You should feel free to root for my players. I'm the Singletary fan. I'm playing against my good buddy Steve Yang, aka Commish.
