LW Tip #8 Simplify Wordy Phrases
When editing your drafts look out for unnecessarily wordy phrases. Often times prepositional phrases are the culprits here, especially "at" and "of". For instance, instead of saying "in the event that" use "if"; or instead of using "a sufficient number of" use "enough". These phrases weaken your writing. Revise them out to strengthen your writing. As Shakespeare's most verbose character said, "Brevity is the soul of wit".
